BECOME A MENTOR

The York Schools Mentoring Program actively recruits new mentors each year. Mentors come to school one day a week for lunch and recess. Melanie Ladd, York Schools Volunteer Coordinator, works with school counselors to match students and mentors based on shared interests and experiences. Mentoring our youth continues to be a powerful tool to assist with building self-esteem and self-confidence, improving behavior in school, and creating healthier relationships. By introducing youth to new experiences and sharing positive values with their mentees, mentors can help a student in many ways. As a mentor, you have a unique opportunity to serve as a role model and trusted confidante, helping a student work through day-to-day struggles.
