It is fairly easy to think about my experience as a Mentor and recognize the things that I have offered my Mentee. Consistency, patience, honesty and diligence all come to mind. But, it is when I think about what being a Mentor has done for me that I become awed by the last seven years. Our time together has kept me in contact with children who have opinions, hopes and dreams. It has given me the opportunity to tune in to the needs of both students and faculty alike when it comes time to vote. I have taught myself how to do new things in order to share that knowledge. Most of all it continues to fill my heart as I watch a once insecure, quiet third grader become an independent, confident young woman.
